Setting up the tracker takes just a moment. When you bring it close to an iiPhone or iPad, you can add the device to the Find My app with a single tap. This immediately adds it to your list of items, and you can check its location on the map. In iOS 17 or later, you can also share the tracker’s location with family members, making it easier for multiple people to use a single device.

When the tracker is within Bluetooth range, the app lets you trigger an audible alert. In practice, this means you can quickly find lost keys in your apartment, a backpack in the office, or a wallet in the car. The sound leads you directly to the item, so you don’t have to search the entire room.

Location tracking even beyond Bluetooth range and Lost Mode

If the item is farther away, the tracker uses the Find My network Apple. It leverages nearby iPhones and other Apple devices that anonymously mag share its location. This allows you to check on a map where the lost item is, even when it’s out of your direct range. The whole process works automatically and does not mag require any additional subscription. The tracker can also notify you when you are moving away from your item. The app saves the last known location and sends a notification when something is left behind. If you lose it, you can enable Lost Mode and add contact information that will appear to the person who finds the item after scanning the tracker.
